Please note volunteers are required from each participating class.
Attendance is required 3X for assistance at:
(1) Finale Practice
(2) Dress Rehearsal and
(3) Recital
for the dancers’ safety and supervision. Younger students will require TWO
parent volunteers. Please contact your teacher.

MARCH 2012 NEWSLETTER
2012 dance competition season is about to begin with the 5678 Showtime at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel the weekend of March 17th and 18th. This is OSA’s 1st road trip. Good luck to all the dancers participating in this convention/competition format.
OSA Competition Rehearsal, Saturday, April 9th at UofC’s University Theatre Schedule to be released this month. Full costume, hair and make-up is required.
2012 Year End Recital Volunteers are required.
Parent volunteers are required for primary, junior and pre-intermediate level aged classes; ages 13 and under. Please let your child’s dance teacher know you are interested. Your assistance is required during:
1. Finale Practice
2. Theatre Dress Rehearsal
3. Recital
The same parent is required for each event as it ensures continuity for the children and a better prepared volunteer. You will be able to view your child’s performance during recital from the vom, the best seats in the house and the entire show during dress rehearsal. Volunteer positions will be filled on a first come basis. The class can not participate without adult supervision. Please volunteer, it’s quite fun!
Performance Lipsticks: please note OSA has two colours of Avon brand lipstick for performance. A subtle shade of pink for the non-competitive dancers and a bolder shade for competitive dancers. Please contact the office by April 15th should you be requiring a tube. The cost will be $6 exact cash only. If you are new to the studio you will need a tube. Using the same colour for the dancers ensures uniformity on stage.

Photo purchase is at your option. LifeTouch will be taking studio photos. Online ordering will be available. Please note photos taken at this week will be featured in the recital slideshow. Photo order is T.B.A.
N.B. regular dance classes are cancelled on photo day.
Recital 2012
OSA has two recitals 1pm recital for Edgemont Dancers; with some exceptions and 3:30pm recital for Dalhousie Dancers; with some exceptions. Order to be announced this April. Tickets for recital 2012 will be $15, incl gst. per person, adult, seniors and children. These will be available for purchase during studio photograph dates. Edgemont show tickets only for sale at Edgemont location, Dalhousie show tickets only for sale at Dalhousie location. Tickets will be on sale for one date only during photo dates at respective locations. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be a 4 ticket guarantee per family.

Welcome back to dance! We’re glad you here with us at OSA. We are looking forward to an exciting new year of dance. Every month at OSA will feature “themes” and special events. Please read your online newsletter to stay informed.
NEW
OSA now has online registration. Please register yourself through the website links. This convenient and secure tool will enable you to monitor your account, register for classes. We hope to also offer online payment option for tuition, competition entry fees, costumes, etc. Stay tuned for updates.
OSA DANCE APPAREL
We will be offering new OSA hoodies and track pants this Fall. Orders may be made and purchased online for your convenience. Please stay tuned for details!
TUITION
If you have not already done so, please note postdated cheques for the dance year are now due. Please submit at your next lesson. If you pre-registered in the Spring, but did not submit your postdated cheques, the pre-registration tuition discount no longer applies.
REFERRAL DISCOUNT:
Referral discounts are valid until the end of the month. Should a friend sign up by September 30th a refund on your tuition will be applied. Please advise the office of any referrals you have made so you can be properly credited.
YEAR END RECITAL DVD’S
Are available for pick-up now. Please visit the ECA office. Call #239-1211 for office hours. If you would like a copy please call OSA office #403-247-3607 $35 each.
BALLET CHARACTER SKIRTS:
Dancers in Grades One and upwards require character skirts. Please ask for a pattern or purchase a skirt at LaSyds Dancewear with our studio colours #288-3060.
USED DANCEWEAR EXCHANGE BOARD CLOSED
The OSA exchange board has been shut down. Although good in theory it did not get much use from OSA clients, so this features is no longer available.
ALLERGIES:
Parents, please ensure you have informed the office and your child’s teacher of any
allergies your child has.
ABSENCES:
Please leave a message on the office if you are going to miss a class. We’ll do our best to inform the teacher before the class.
DANCER’S GROOMING:
Please attend your dance class in appropriate dance attire with hair worn in a tidy fashion. Please leave your valuable jewelry and technology at home. Cell phones must be turned off during class.
LABEL DANCEWEAR:
Please mark all your dance apparel; especially footwear.
PARTICIPATION WAIVER:
Our insurance company requires all
participants to have a signed and witnessed Participation Waiver on file. These are being returned home this month for signature. Please return to your dance teacher.
